There are many different kinds of allergies that people suffer from. Some people have allergies to certain foods like peanuts or fish, other people are allergic to penicilin or other medications. However far and away the most common allergies are airborn pollutants. Obviously, having a good high quality furnace filter can help control these allergens but what are the best furnace filters?

Furnace filters come in a variety of kinds. In theory, all of them are designed to make the air quality better in your home. However, think about the kinds of airborn allergens you may need to worry about. Pollen particles are so small they are usually invisible, and so are mold and mildew spores. Dust mites can lives on dust particles so small they are nearly invisible. Do you think the typical furnace filter can screen out these things?

Furnace filters were designed back when many furnaces were fueled by oil or coal. They were meant to keep large particles like smoke or clots os basement dust from being blown into the house. They do little to address allergens.

To screen allergens out of the air in your house, you will want to switch to a special allergen filter. These filters are designed out of special media to screen even the smallest particles. They can take oyut 95% of allergens from the air – I can’t recommend them enough!
